Child and Youth Development in Jamaica

We are working with partners in Jamaica to support development and implement some of our innovations in collaboration with local businesses.

Our Wellbeing, Mental Health and Enterprise project for Children and Young People in St Mary Parish will support volunteers to facilitate classroom sessions and provide one to one support in schools and community settings. Led by V2 Volunteers we are supporting with training and capacity building of local volunteers to provide integrated wellbeing, mental health and enterprise interventions to improve outcomes for young people.

The Neuro Champions ‘Child and Youth Wellbeing Officer’ training will equip Volunteer Wellbeing Officers with the knowledge and expertise they need to effectively support children and young people to develop their skills in understanding their emotions and improving the wellbeing of themselves and their peers. The programme offers training in areas related to the emotional and psychological elements; of child development; support and management of conflicts; and understanding and managing challenging behaviour.

Our collaborators include; V2 Volunteer and Vacation and the Social Development Commission. V2 provides volunteer and travel experiences in Jamaica and Tobago. We are working with them to develop support for Small Businesses and explore the implementation of the Neuro Champions project in community settings in Jamaica.
