Working with young people who have experienced trauma  6 hours

This package of training supports you to work with young people who have experienced trauma at some point in their lives.

Module 1 : Understanding trauma

This module outlines a definition of psychological trauma and explores what happens in our brains and bodies when we experience a traumatic event(s). This module covers the signs and symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder as they present in children and young people, as well as the treatment options available.

Module 2 : Understanding the teenage brain

This module gives an overview of the developing, adolescent brain, exploring how changes in the teenage brain can affect young people’s thoughts, emotions and behaviours. The sessions also cover the impact the environment can have on developing brains.

Module 3 : Building trusting relationships

This module covers the common issues that disrupt and damage relationships with young people and offers ways to support healthy, trusting relationships when working with children and young people.
